Does anyone have any experience with Rio TLTSUB28, 1 OZ., 1050'/sec. I am trying to find out psi and if anyone is familiar with recoil with this shell.

I have shot a lot of Rio and their competition load Kemen. They have all been very good. I don't look at the model number with care so I can't speak for this load although I may have shot many flats of them. Bill

Thanks bill. I have shot them in 1 1/8", 2-3/4 trap load at sporting clays and liked them but I am interested in a lower recoil and psi for my old guns.

Rio's & Kemens are both fine, but I have to wonder why you wish to bother with a 1oz. 28ga. load .. they are much like the 20 1oz loads .. ALWAYS slower than the standard shot charges at 1200 fps, higher pressures 100% of the time and if you are going to shoot much of it at all, a real pain in the shoulder if the gun weighs anything less than 7+ pounds. With lead shot, I do not see any advantage or need for more than 3/4oz in a 28Ga, or 7/8oz. in a 20. My own patterning experience says the heavier charges are less effective on the plate than the standard loads too. My personal experience w/factory 1oz. 28's is limited to the very old Federals, but with the 20ga. it covers a number of the 1oz. loads from assorted manufacturers ... less is better in either gauge. I also did, at one time, a fair amount of patterning with listed H110 1oz. reloads in 28ga. Aside from significant recoil their was nothing remotely impressive about them. A number of the original Remington 1148 28ga, guns were hammered to death with the old 1oz. loads. If I'm not mistaken that is the reason that no American Mfg. continued to offer them. If you are looking for lower pressures, 1oz. is not the way to go. All small bores tend toward higher pressures, so the term 'low pressure' is a bit misleading, but lower pressures can be attained with some combinations of componenets. Factory rounds are going to be within industry specs, and that means at the high end, as far as I know.
I do not question the quality of the make [Rio] you are inquiring about, but I would steer toward the regular target loads instead of the 1oz stuff. Target loads will tend to have have the highest quality shot available to the Mfg, regardless of name and they will generally produce the best patterns as well. Just my thots.

tw,
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question. I think there is a miscommunication in my post and I should have been more clear. The Rio TLTSUB28 is actually a subsonic 12 gauge load and I was hoping someone might be familiar with the pressure of this load. I spoke to Brian at Able Ammo and they are supposed to call Spain to find out but I suspect I will never hear from them about this. I know from experience in the past that getting this info is difficult short of buying some and sending it out for testing myself.
My limited experience with Rio has been very positive and they are very reasonably priced so I thought it was worth following up on this subject and sharing the result with fellow board members.
Thanks again, Milt

tw - I suspect the "28" in the initial question refers to 28 grams of shot (1 oz).
builder - maybe you would want to have a sample tested for pressure?? There is such service available modestly priced.

No problem gentlemen. Guess I got a bit of egg on my face for the assumption and not bothering to look the actual load number up first to see what it was. I do not have any personal experience with that particular load.
I have purchased and used a number of flats of the Kemen 3 & 1/4dr. 36gr. 7.5 flyer loads and Rio 24Gr. 12ga. bunker loads and both are good pattering high quality rounds.
Sounds like the ammo you are inquiring about is designed for the Brit 'muffler guns' that are used for skeet at some urban area clubs. Will be interested in your findings on its pressure levels.

Spoke to Brian and he contacted Houston. The guy with the info is out until Friday and he is supposed to email the info to me. I will share that info if I get it.
I felt it is worth it since the price of the shells are comparatively low and the quality seems fairly high.
The shells are 2 3/4" but if the pressure is real low...
