They just seem to have very poor quality control. Very much agree.

Seems Tony G. thinks it's better for his bottom line to leave quality inspection to the buyer, apparently not much difference in cost to fix them later vs. sooner. And no need to fix something like that cracked stock if it happens to hold up ok.
They sent my 16 to their chosen local gunsmith to bend for cast off, and he shipped it to me. Bend was fine, wood finish was messed up. Also the thin Galazan pad was poorly fit, light visible between pad and butt. They quickly made it right, and they honored my request to replace the forend with one that better matched the color of the stock.

Shot yesterday with a friend at the Whittington Center. He had his pride and joy, a CSMC Fox CE, a pretty high dollar gun. While it was in a gun rack I noticed the muzzle and looked closer--the top rib has broken loose for about four inches and is just flopping around. Not the first problem he has had, the gorgeous wood was selected strictly for figure without any concern for strength and a couple years ago a serious sideways crack developed near the head and had to be returned for repair. To the credit of CSMC they repaired it without charge. But it just seems there are way too many of their guns sent out with serious problems. They just seem to have very poor quality control. A personal pet peeve of mine is wood selected for figure only. I have seen a number of factory guns (included the CSMC Foxes) with amazingly poor layout. An accident waiting to happen. I doubt most would crack/break strictly on recoil, but they would easily break given a fall in the woods. I do know of more then one Parker Repro straight grip that broke/cracked in the wrist while firing. PS. To show I'm not that smart, I once bought a blank of Circassian based on poor pictures. I thought layout was marginal but the figure was amazing. Once it arrived I realized my worst fears were confirmed. Tremendous cross grain in the head and the grain flipped in the grip and was cross grained in the opposite direction. Didn't know a tree could even grow that way.  Took it to my stock maker and he/we made the decision to band saw it into forearm blanks. An expensive lesson learned.

28 Gauge - mine is a fully-optioned single trigger 20 ga.
CSM took the creep out of the triggers and they break now somewhere under 5# (can't remember anymore). I am generally pretty tolerant of shotgun triggers, and I am happy with these now.
The forearm hand still feels a hard slap when the hammers fall. I can't tell that CSM bothered.
The wood, which I would compare to Cali'Co's semi-fancy, remains as delivered.
The 20 ga. guns I really enjoy shooting are a SG-SF-SST Parker Repro (would like to have a PG-BT-SST) and a Model 12 skeet gun. Currently I don't want much more beyond that.

I have a few RBL Launch guns. I've been very happy with them. Here is what I call my "semi-matched" pair. VERY pretty wood, but not straight in the grip. CSMC are pros at putting stuff like that out there.....pretty to the eye, but inherently weak in the grip. Hopefully, and since they are boxlocks, they will hold up for you and not crack/break.

Yes, Buzz, they are indeed a burden to own. So much a burden that I was going to give them away, but decided that be would unfair to whomever would end up owning them, and thus I am stuck with them. Woe is me. :-)
