After you remove the factory springs, replace them with "light carburetor style" springs if you want the lifters to extend outward to the proper height.
Experiment with various carburetor springs and you will find the correct one.

I have converted many L.C. ejector forearms to extractor forearms using this method. The ejector will "click" but only LIFT the empty hull for hand extraction selectively.
