I've always wondered what "must present copy of FFL to postal authority" means in specifics. Show and retain personally or relinquish. I've had a couple of postal employees ask me if they are to retain the license copy. I have no idea what to answer but can't imagine what possible use the receiving dealer's license copy is to the PO if there is no attachment of reference to the specific firearm or ID of the seller involved in the transaction. I'm not even certain the PO is entitled to retain this type of info. On a couple of sales, I allowed the clerk to retain the license copy simply because they appeared to think they should; on one I added my phone no. at her insistence. CYA and subjective opinion appear to rule here; I don't fight it because I don't enjoy standing in the corner for 15 minutes while they find their Super. It is my understanding that the nature of the shipment (longarm) and condition (unloaded, broken down) must be revealed; I have always done so in a publicly audible and confident voice as there is something about mumbling "I got a gun in here" sotto voce which doesn't inspire confidence.
