Been looking at getting a couple prints and was on Brett Smith's website.... Man do I love his work! By far, he is my favorite sporting artist. I love his style. Most of his work depicts classic scenes from the turn of the century and show a landscape reminiscent of the "good ole days" for upland bird hunting. I especially love his southern quail and dove hunting pieces. Thought I'd share a few. Can you recommend any other artists similar in style?

I would suggest works by Frank Benson, Jim Killen, Chet Reneson, David Hagerbaumer, Edgar Burke, Mark Hanson,Paul Niemmiec, Jr. and of course A.B. Frost.

Best Regards, George

adam: very nice indeed...

the second print reminds me of happy days in pa, back when there were wild cock birds afoot...

the third, of course, could be any number of spots in up state ny, when there were still grouse about...

and the fourth? certainly in the berkshires...

thank you for bringing back those fond memories of good places, good doggies and of good times gone by...

Gorgeous.

I just wish I could find a print with a spaniel instead of setters.

I don't have to remember I still see landscapes like that but beautiful paintings and prints just the same.

I own a rare Smith. Not a hunting scene but one of the few saltwater oil paintings he has done instead of his freshwater river scenes. A solitary tarpon hook up in the mangroves .

George and RWTF took most of my suggestions but I would add Eldridge Hardy and Rod Crossman.

The painting style of Robert Abbett is virtually indistinguishable from that of Brett Smith.
