Yes it is a stalking safety Geo. I am interested in the wood as well. I am going to give it as sympathetic of a restoration as possible. I hate to strip the stock but it will be a must in order to deal with the cracks.

Very, very nice. But I have to wonder whether the stag doing the dying cockroach on the sideplate wouldn't be bad mojo for successful hunting with this gun. While I'm sure there's been everything engraved on guns at one point or another, that's the first time for that portrayal of a stag.

I can't really tell from the pic, but that looks like it might be a french seitch (sp?) set trigger? It may push forward to leave a hair trigger for accuracy, and the small screw behind the trigger is there to set the trigger pull...Geo
