Front St in downtown Georgetown where all the restaurants are had knee-deep water there. Suspect the Hampton Inn where many have reservations for the SSxS, including us, was probably flooded on the bottom floor.

Maybe it can all be cleaned up by the end of the month, but I doubt it.

My how our memories are clouded. Do you gentlemen remember that this Santee river area of South Carolina is the home of Archibald Rutledge and how he talked of the Santee river in flood stage being 3 miles wide while he was out in it duck hunting. It has flooded for untold centuries in that area of the world.

Knee deep water will be just an inconvenience to Georgetown, where 26 years ago last month a hurricane called Hugo brought a flood of seawater 16 feet deep to the little village of McClellanville (across the river from Georgtown) Where Mr. Rutledge was born and died. That area of South Carolina deals with too much water just like Venice, Italy--it is just what happens and we go on doing what we have always done.

The people of South Carolina are accustomed to adverse conditions it seems to me. 150 years ago when uncle Sherman was in Columbia, SC it was too dry and hot; now it is too wet and cool--but I bet Columbia will shrug it off; and the Southern SxS will be just fine and the weather will be beautiful, and all the water will have filtered down through the sandy soil there to fill ground water supply.

I will drive down and see you gentlemen thee.

I was wondering if the weather would affect the event, anyone know the situation?? I am attending for sure and greatly looking forward to it, so hopefully everything is good to go by then.

The Backwoods Quail website said they were closed Monday & Tuesday, but reopened for clays today, so it appears everything is well on track for later this month at the club itself.

I was in communication with Lauren who said that they had a couple of traps underwater, but nothing major. Georgetown itself may not have fared as well, it being 20+ miles away.
