Hello folks,i have bought a Browning bss sidelock 12g grade II ( gamescene engraving) with 28' barrells. The gun hasnt reached me from the seller yet though it has Imp./Mod. Chokes and after i bought it i recalled that this choking was for 26' ones. I called the seller and asked him if the chokes are opened but he told me the barrells are untouched. Has any1 seen another 28' with Imp/Mod choke constriction? All the best!

No, but it's certainly possible. You'll know when you get it, because it should be marked **- and ** if so. JR

I'd rather have 28" barrels with IC/M rather than M/F even if opened up. Even Grade II BSS SL guns really aren't collector items, yet. I'd say no worries. If opened up, I'd say they did you a favor.

If the seller says the barrels are untouched and they really are 28", I'd guess the chokes will turn out to be M/F. Either way, you have a fine shotgun!...Geo

All you had to do was ask him how the barrel flats are marked. JR

Maybe, maybe not. If I was going to hunt it for any bird but pheasants, likely I would. If a safe queen, then No. I have a Beretta ASEL 20bwith 27 1/2" barrels M/F. It's a really beautiful little gun. I decided it was too nice to hunt for ROUGH hunting which is mainly what I do. So, I'm leaving it alone. Ken Pendleton, who deals mainly in hard to find Berettas told me I would not diminish its value opening up to something sensible like .008 and .015. But, as I said, I've decided to leave that particular gun alone.

Why would it be marked as "Made in Japan"? It was made for/by Browning and sold as made by them . Is there any requirement in US law for Country od origin to be marked ?
