This occurred in Pageland, SC - it's gun country down here. If the rightful owner can be found there is a fair chance that they'll get them back. I just don't see how they'll be able to place most of them simply because they won't be able to identify the original owner.
Exactly. This is why it is important to keep a record of all your guns along with serial numbers, descriptions, and pictures. You might have problems recovering stolen property or making an insurance claim for property destroyed in a fire if you can't prove you actually owned it. Of course, such records should not be stored in the same house or building as the property.
