If I have get down to video taping opening a box to prove I didn't damage a gun, I wouldn't buy a squirt gun from them.

Doverham is right in the most practical way. The value of the gun is not improved by altering it this way. If you think the barrels are unsafe run away from the gun as fast as you can. Face it we have no proof laws here so there is no legal consequence to altering the forcing cones. And as it was pointed out that even in GB it is more of a technical issue than one easily or obviously encountered. If you admit that it was done then by rights you should have the gun reproofed is my take. Don't ask, don't tell.

But more to the point is that it is a alteration done that is almost totally unneeded. The few percent improvement in pattern is not worth removing metal at the highest area of chamber pressure. Just as porting is not needed in a fine double, long forcing cones are just not needed. Leave these guns as original as you can or think long and hard before you have them worked on.

chuck: from a buyers perspective, your statement is not unreasonable...however, from a sellers and consigners perspective, it does not consider some potential problems... for example, return shipping doubles the probability of shipping damage. and while an item is in transit coming and going, valuable selling time is lost. plus, relisting an item raises questions from other buyers as to why the item was returned. and finally, some buyers will purchase a rare item and then swap out some parts for lesser parts and return the item, hoping the seller will not notice. this is particularly true when dealing in colt single action revolvers and model 1911 autos. the problem also occurs with collectible winchesters.

when all is said and done, a long term positive feedback history in a place like gunbroker is the best way to judge the behavior of both buyers and sellers... i am a long time buyer and seller on gunbroker and elsewhere.

Your are right. It is a haven for dealers that prays on the ignorant.

When I sell on GB my shit is as described with a NO QUESTIONS ASKED return policy. Can you say the same. Its about integrity and looking in the mirror. Its called a conscience.
