xausa, I have been doing some research since you pointed out your belief as to the sight staffs maker. I was wondering if you have any pics of PH sights that look the same as my staff? I haven't been able to find any. I did find a similar shaft shown in the Old Gunsight book, I believe this is a staff made by King Gunsight company. At least it contains 2 pics that are very close. If any of the sight collectors here can provide any input or pics it would be appreciated

I hadn't thought of it until xausa's comment but it sure does. Look here => http://www.rifleman.org.uk/PH_Service_sights.htm about 60% of the way down the page for the Sportarget model. Also, a Google image search for Sportarget brings up loads.

Thanks, I looked at the link and also the google images, there is some similarity to a PH but I did not see anything that matched close enough to call it a PH sight. If you have the Old Gunsight book look under the King sight section (in my book page 8) and there is an image very similar to the shaft being discussed here. I don't see any good images of King's sights on Google anywhere. Of interest is a 1955 lawsuit between King and Micro for patent infringement, if interested.

I think a radius on the left top square edge running into the gas shield would look nice as so with the back top edge. Again, just my opinion. Nice to see that old sight being re-purposed. I'll check my sight box and see what other projects I can come up with for you!!!!!!!!! ![laugh laugh](/forums/images/graemlins/default/laugh.gif)

Either post or PM me a link to your company web site. I seem to spend a lot of money with Really Right Stuff for camera and lens plates that fit the Arca Swiss quick release system.

I've been looking for the PM, but haven't received it yet. Looking forward to it. Thanks.

I can't swear as to which edge Ken is referring to, but IMHO rounding the top and bottom edge of the square corners of the outer surface of the flange would improve the look and reduce the potential for a sharp square corner being a literal pain. Nothing drastic, just break the sharp/square corners. In looking at the photo of the shield, it shows some blending. Your treatment in the last drawing looks closer to what I envision you will wind up with. Looking good.
