Hello Folks
One of my kurz sporters has the symptoms of a weak mainspring . . . and as its a favorite hunting rifle I need it to be right!
The springs in these are several turns shorter than a standard 98 but otherwise the same as far as I can tell. If I cut down a new 98 spring to the correct number of turns and grind the end flat will this work, or will I need to anneal an end and shape it like the original ??
Thanks

Foster, I usually heat a piece of steel red hot, push the open coil into the steel until it closes and then dress it slightly on a belt sander. Closed coils do not catch on things and it looks proper. Steve

Thanks
