ky: respectfully, i do not have a "torch" method, nor any other method for recoloring shotgun receivers...in fact, i do no gun work of any kind... is that plain enough for you? Ed, are you forgetting that you told us here about some muzzle loaders that you built? I do believe that would count as "gun work". Is that plain enough for you? Is it any coincidence that ed also stands for erectile dysfunction? Is your brain getting limp, or are you trying to deceive us? What... no Holiday Greetings for me ed? I thought I was your best friend here. I mean, who else would take the time to remind you that you have indeed performed gun work, contrary to what you tried to tell us? No gratitude!

bye mrwmartin Sorry you see it that way mrwmartin. Tony was a practitioner of bone charcoal pack case coloring, and shared his learning with all of us here during his terminal illness, at a time when most people would be quite down and depressed. I don't feel I was disrespecting Tony a bit by countering a hack and an anti-gun troll who is and has been a proponent of burning ugly bulleyes into vintage shotguns with an acetylene torch, all for the sake of maximizing profits from inexperienced gun buyers. Tony didn't burn psychedelic colors into shotgun actions and try to pass them off as duplicating original factory colors either. This is from Misfires post 407727 -- as for the gun control issue...we are the only country in the world that seems to tolerate mass murder, in the name of an individual right...its about time that we as a society realize that we are over gunned with too many super dangerous weapons in the hands of too many super dangerous people... it is long past time to do as the rest of the civilized world has done and simply, disarm... Dishonesty ain't civility, and tolerance of dishonesty ain't civility either. bye

Hello Keith, I am fully aware of the position of Tonys helpfulness and generous nature. I can assure you he would not tolerate pettiness, particularly in the guise of debate re his work and opinions. You, and other parties, may be raising valid concerns but I will stand by my opinion that this isnt the thread for such debate. If this post comes across as rudeness, it is not my intent.I shall remember Tony, and others, with quiet reflection. best wishes

Well Mr W martin, I guess we shall agree to disagree. And after my time on this good earth is over, I would not feel disrespected in the least if someone should remember me by confronting an anti-gunner, a gun desecrator, or someone who is not being truthful.
I can't speak for Tony, but I note that he did not tart up guns in order to make a quick profit. He worked hard to do things correctly, even when he must have known time was short, and shared his learning and experience with us. I know you meant well.
Best wishes to you too.

We seem to be too busy bickering over case hardening methods to remember Tony's initiative and leadership in the successful drive to defeat those who would have deleted the name; "The Gun Quarter," from the Birmingham City map. I am sure that Tony's contribution to retention of the "Gun Quarter" on the city map will long be remembered by members of the Birmingham Gun Trade.
