It's time for me to retire so after the end of March I will be shooting and fishing as much as possible. I am now on count down and looking forward to it. I will be dealing in high end guns by appointment and on the internet only.

Retiring is a big change in life. I'm due at the end of next year. Planning is a bear! Worry haunts. Good luck to you John, and I hope your latter years will be fulfilling!...Geo

Good luck with your retirement or better semi retirement. Stay active in the business as long as you are making a few pounds and dealing with people you like. Total retirement can be a very boring thing to some.
My father worked until 92 before handing his business off to another. He still owns it but tries not to run it at all. After he passes the business must be able to go on with current staff or it will most likely close. He had been very bored since retirement. His house and yard have been constantly upgraded to give him something to do. But you can only clean your gutters thee times, trim every tree and bush twice a year and fix any minor item inside or outside the house once. Now his list of things to do is done. He's too old to travel much, all his friends are gone, wife gone and even his dog died. I did find him another middle age golden retriever. Sometimes he wishes he had not retired but it had to be done. Still I hope to work as long as he did but know I have zero chance of doing it to 90. 70-75 maybe if lucky. I still like working and until that ends hope to be able to do so.

In retirement, the hours are great, but the pay is terrible. Mike

As Bobby says, there's no such thing as retiring. You'll still be working, John, only at a little more distance from the wage economy.
You'll have a better balance of activity, and activity is your best assurance of staying around to do the other things you want to do.
Friends of mine who lacked the inclination and imagination to be active are dead. Congratulations. Keep burning brightly to the end!

I have been retired nearly 5 years It is tough!! I got up at 5:30 this morning, drove 60 miles, launched the canoe, went to the duck blind, had a great hunt, came home, went to Robinsons Ribs (brought them home because great ribs are best eaten in private), Now doing honey do's and it is 12:15. I'm still thanking John for turning down a foolish sleeving job I was once determined to have done on a "tomato stake" Boss gun I once owned. Saved me tons of money!...Geo
