I retired 20 years ago and before I retired I bought a cattle ranch. In addition to the never ending work, i'm blessed with outstanding waterfowl and deer hunting. The pheasant and Grey Partridge hunting is good as is the nearby mountain grouse hunting. Trout fishing is as good as it gets as is the local elk hunting. You will soon wonder how you had the time to work. That said, it depends a lot on the individual. I know some guys that couldn't handle retirement and went back to their respective companies as consultants, but they were not hunters and fishermen.
Good Luck.
Jim

I retired for a year at 48. At first it was fine as I got caught up on all the things I never had time to get done. Hunting season was maxed that year. But by the end of a year I was bored. So back to work I went. It helps if you can retire when and if you want to. But unless my wife retires with me next time I'll keep working as long as I enjoy it. Hope you get t enjoy your retirement to the max.

I retired in mid-life for seven years bumbing around trapping, hunting, fishing with three years of it living in ŕ tent in NW WI. I decide I needed a bigger grubstake and went back to work. I've been retired seven years this time and it is a lot more fun. I'll be hunting and fishing in at least five different states this year.

Thank you all so much. You are so kind. Yes the work will continue as normal. I have two young men taking over the business and they are very keen to work to a very high standard and I will be around to help them as much as possible. After 51 years in the gun business I think it's time to start working part time and have more off time to have more fun in. The closer it gets to March 31st. the more I am looking forward to it. In all the 51 years Ronda (my wife)and I have made lots of good friends and we want to thank all and every one of you. I will still go to some gun shows like UK game fair, IWA & Scone game fair.

Wish you well in your retirement! I believe we met at Gary Herman's place in the early 80's, you were fitting, taking orders and making friends. Best to you
