Six months in salt water, the A5 and my 12ga Fox SW are now in a barrel of fresh water. We were lucky: hit the tide just right and the visibility four metres off the bottom was 50 feet---and the temperature 50 degrees.

My A5 buddy shoved in two shells and fired, both ejecting normally. All my Fox parts seem to be functioning, the barrels look good, and the wood is only a little proud at the buttplate. Nick Makinson in Komoko, Ontario, will do the Fox.

I hope to salvage TM from my Kent 2 1/2-inch No. 5s and bismuth from my handloads. My Watson and Baker 7 X 35 binoculars, my first purchase as a reporter 60 years ago, don't look good.

Great ending to a story that started out as a near death experience.

I appreciate ebay alert, jack. A buddy who knows how to bid will pursue for me.

Optics are much better today but I find old-time low power are about all I can hold in the blind.

Good news King. Glad things worked out well for you.

Do consider the parachute chord suggestion in the future, perhaps?
Best,

King, The binoculars are offered at $50 "buy it now". My experience is that if there is much bidding the price will rise above that. Good luck, you might be the only bidder.

Perhaps you would consider writing an article about this misadventure that turned out alright? Probably not so many guys your age getting out amongst 'em for sea ducks and such, as you do. Meld some opinion with the career of reporting and objectivity, a few pics before & after and your set .. a piece of cake! It would be good fodder for the broader audience outside the normal sporting press. Might help offset the restoration costs, even. Just a thot.

Glad to hear all were recovered, but more importantly that neither you nor your freinds became statistics.

All guns up and all hands alive and well. About as perfect outcome as you can have in this type of accident. Glad to hear all went well.
