Hi,
Looking for some advice based on the collective expertise of the board. I have a 5.5 lb 28 ga o/u that i really enjoy shooting but it has some quality issues so i may be moving on. I would like to replace it with an o/u of similar weight but of good quality control. I like berettas and have a 687 12 ga o/u, a 12 ga 391, a 20 ga sxs and previously had a 12 ga 686. All have had zero issues and been of good quality, hence the basis for my question.
I have seen 687 SP II with PG on a baby frame at 6 lbs 2 oz. Would it at all be possible to have a gunsmith take 6 ounces off the gun while maintaining the balance? certainly some weight could come from drilling the stock but I don't know if I could get that much weight out and it would shift weight toward the front. Anything else that could be done to put the o/u on a diet? Or is this a bad idea?
Thanks,
David
