OK the Baker Special I bought is certainly a "fowler" with it's 30" F/F tubes. Ducks due to tend to provide shooting in inclement weather. Water has a way of getting in the actions of both sidelocks and boxlocks. I am not afraid to take apart and clean either of them. I must admit I admire the craftsmanship that went into the Baker and I believe that if I did not get a bargain the Batavia Special is a very undervalued quality double.

I took the gun to the trap field tonight and it worked perfectly. When I remembered to "cover" the bird with a flat shooting field gun it did the job. I broke a 22 out of 25. I am anxious to put the Baker's bead on game.

The Baker downed a goose. Plans for a duck hunt this morning were foiled by high water at a dam this morning, (lake draining upstreaming. Scrambling for an alternate plan we elected to go goose hunting. I took a Honker down with two shots from the Baker using 1 1/8 Bismuth 4, both shots connected with the second hit being a dead fold. Range was about 35 yards out and 20 yards up. The Baker works when I do. While I was picking up the dead bird more geese came in and my partner dropped two with his Trojan 20 and 1 ounce of Bismuth 6 at about 20 yards range.
