Hi, congrats!!!!! Wonderful gun. I hope you have many happy and healthy years shooting her.
As to the choke/trigger arrangement, some shooters liked to shoot the tighter choked bbl at birds coming in at a longer distance first and then shoot at a bird when it was closer. It was more natural to shoot the front trigger first, thus the tight choked 1st bbl so to speak. Of course, this was up to the individual shooter.
Again, Congrats!

Set up for driven birds, something we mostly don't get to shoot at over here, unless we are set as blockers on a big phez field in the Midwest big grass country. And those are very hard shots unless you have practiced them on a trap range, or live out there in the big sky where it is a normal situation.
Neat old double!

Thank you gentlemen! I am quite pleased with her. One bore has a dark patch of pitting, otherwise the bores are not bad. And I normally find straight hand grips a bit awkward and prefer quarter grips. But this one comes up to my eye like she was fitted for me! And as much as I realize doubles should be judged by their quality not the name on the side plates, I have desired either a Holland or a Purdey for many many years!
It also has "C.W.L. 61 Patent" in an oval shape on both sides of the water table. Any ideas as to what it stands for?

I have seen many instances on incoming doves where that choke arrangement would be ideal.

I have seen many instances on incoming doves where that choke arrangement would be ideal. Me, too. I actually use that choke combination in my 687 SPII Sporting often. I love to take the first incomer way out there, then try to double, killing the second so that it falls at my feet, or at least not too far behind me. Great fun! SRH
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Wonderful gun. Er, you aren't planning on uncorking the Remington loads shown in the picture in this old girl, are you? Use it in good health.
Best,
Ted
