Robert, that's one fine looking stock you've got going on the Rem. Every once in a while I see someone doing up a Rem dbl and it gets me thinking about restocking and engraving my 1900 Rem. Looks like the bug has bitten me again but where to find the time ??? Ken

Ken, thanks. I thought all 12ga 1894 stocks were interchangable, but the WHD stock wouldn't fit this F grade trap. It turns out the trap guns had slightly taller recievers (where it meets the stock) and this extra stock couldn't be used...so now it'll be stocked an inch longer for summertime, T shirt wearin', hand trap...I picked up an extra straight grip trigger guard and now I'm hoping to use it on some other '94...the WHD stock came from Jerrod (L C engraver), but I have no idea what happened to the rest of the gun

Builder...hope those pictures helped describe the bowtie...I would have to disassemble a gun to show an actual bowtie in place

I think this is the guy that advertises on ebay. I agree with those that said this guy probably doesn't understand the nature of gunstocks and proper grain layout. Cecil is a very good source for the novice buyer as he will take time to help. Also, consider Jim Preslik http://www.presliksgunstocks.com/

I Have bought several stock blanks from Pete and been very happy with them. He use to have video tapes of his stock for sale. Funny thing is that he mailed me one (tape) in a plain brown envelope. Might as well been a x-rated tape since it was packaged like one. My wife was much happier when she learned what it really was.

KY-Jon....How well I remember the 'Brown Envelope" arriving! Not only my Wife, but the 'Faithfull Springer'Wellington, who pounced on the Package, and had it torn open and whatever 'Hiatt used to seal it with had the dog 'Humping" Rolling over & over". When I finally retrieved the 'Tape' and put it in the machine, I had never been so 'Bored' ....I've only been 'Whacking on Walnut for 54 yrs....Wood Peddlers piss me off with there 'Oh my god ...look... YOU have never ever seen a stock-blank with Figure, Colour, Grain, Stucture, Content,Absolute Perfection, :The Holy Grail of Gun-Stocks' Olde English Gunmakers Term for this Spiel from a Wood-Hussler'...Bollocks....Try cutting this so-called piece of Krapp with a 1/4" flat chisel, across the grain where the 'head of the action will be bedded!!!Be it a Boss O/U AHFox Sterlingworth. Purdey db 20b.Lefever C grade, Holland& H 28bore,(maybe I should say Gauge;?)...or a L>C>Smith Field Grade 20 Bore,I guess being a 'Traditional' Stockmaker who still uses tools that were cutting Purdey Stocks in the 1800s I could be considered"Old Fashioned"..But I really should not Knock (or Mock) Those hard working, Chain-Saw Wielding,Lumber-men,(May-be"Lumber-Women")who wrestle the Logs with chains, Sleds, Mules,to get the Walnut Logs to the sawmills,then to 'Mill the logs into what the 'Magazine Writers" can drool over....Glossie Photos, Can of Spray Wax, Magic from 'ETs" Space-ship...Over the years. Maybe Michael remembers me suggesting that he "get out more" when he said that pre 1913 LC Smiths all had imported wood. He read that out of an LC catalog. Of course, it was true. Half was American black imported into NY from Pennsylvania.
In that case, it might be the "won't do" file.
Ed Preslik is no longer with us, but his son is. Slim Svenson is also gone. Cantwell, too, I think. Lots of good guys not around anymore.
I don't send out those videos anymore. Too much let down when they viewed shavings instead of chippies. I send out email photos now.
Reminds me when a prim Cannuk Arabian horse loving friend searched "stallions" just as her husband entered the room. She was SO embarrassed. He still doesn't believe her.
