I need to have added about 1 1/4 inches to the stock of a 20 gauge SLE. Could get by with just 1 1/8 if needed

Was thinking of going with a small black spacer and then a red rubber pad. I have a 12 gauge SLE with a similar configuration and that looks good but isn't truly representative because it is only an inch in length.

Other thought was to go with a black leather pad. Maybe or maybe not, use a black spacer here to go with the pad too.

BTW, I won't be doing it myself. Highly skilled gunsmith will be doing the work.

Thoughts and opinions are appreciated. Thanks!

Glue the spacer to the pad then go with a leather pad to cover them both?

I was faced with a similar situation & ended up doing a 1 1/4" leather covered pad (1" pad + 1/4" spacer & the whole leather covered) & I don't really like the appearance.

I know this sounds strange, but a 1" red pad (Silvers or Pachmayr) with a 1/4" black spacer or better yet a 1" leather covered pad & a 1/4" non leather covered black spacer looks much nicer that an 1 1/4" leather covered pad.

If you look around you can find examples of guns with stocks lengthened this way & IMHO its the most cosmetically acceptable way to do it w/o a restock or possibly a butt extension with the grain painted in to match.

Something about a leather covered pad or mono color pad & spacer longer than 1" that just looks out of proportion to my eye.

That was my thought too Brittany Man.

I really don't like the appearance of a leather pad over 1 inch. That is why I was originally thinking the black spacer with a 1 inch red rubber pad might be more aesthetically pleasing, in getting the desired 1 1/8 or 1 1/4.
