Yes, you should be able to find a 20 ga in near new condition with case and cover for around that price. 28's and 12's command a bit more.

IM. Probably the biggest knock on these guns was that the color case wore rapidly. I had a 12ga., two barrel set and it was the case with that gun. Fit and finish were very good and the wood on my 12 was killer. You will find huge variation in wood figure. The engraving was machine and appropriate. Original DHE engraving is generally not very impressive. My biggest knock was that the gun had poor dynamics. My hunting partner shot a 26" 20ga. for a couple of seasons and though better it also was lacking. I am told the 28s are very dynamic but I lack any experience with them. Were they worth the money? Absolutely. Are they worth the current money? Same answer.

You can't go wrong with Parker repro's,Buy now they seem to have hit a plateau for a while.

I'll bet they will never go down in price.

Condition is the key if they are new unfired $4500.00 is not unheard of. If your wanting a shooter shop the market for one with the CC worn off and a couple scratches to save a couple of bucks.

About $1000 more for mint 28 gauges. Overpriced? Sure. Will they cost more next year? Sure. My 28 gauge 2 barrel set cost $2895 from Guns Unlimited during the closeout. Today, just under six grand.
