I think I know how to help you. First of all you want to have dies made from the cerrosafe chamber cast and that needs to be done by (dies made) either Huntington or C&H.

As to the brass, Buffalo is the place for brass.

I think it will be a simple process to get that old stalker back on the hunt.

Try these links. If you have anyother problems plese PM me for any more help.

Those squiggly lines are engraving that Mr Ken has to recut for me. The gold dogs need some hair redone also. I guess if I was as old as this Lefever I'd need my hair redone also. Its going to make a wonderful gun when its finished.

BIG AL, good stuff there - and thanks!
I just got over a Westley Richards 360 #3 case express double rifle headache of which I chickened out on.
Skill is something Lowell has very little of!

Lowell: I do hope that helps sir. All the folks you have links to are vary happy to help you and will help to make short work of your stalker project.

I've just stared a 1897 Westley Richards scratch build, and will do it as a stalking rifle also. I've decided on a .40-70 Sharps Straight for the chambering.

Please keep us informed on your progress.

Big Al,
an 1897 scratch build? A casting from Len Bull? Lots of work in one of those puppies....I should finish mine. I'm think .375 flanged for mine.

Lowell,
A chamber cast would be the first step, then you could alter hand loads or have the chamber re-cut should it need it. I would be glad to help you out shou you need it. Besides, I sorta like British single shots, I think I even have one or two around here somewhere.

Steve: my action is all together,100% complete. Rodney Storie supplied. I await the the barrel. I was worried about a pattern for the wood, but looks like that is taken care of. Rodney sent pictures of one that has been finished as a stalker. I have the pictures and it looks to fit my wants to a "T". I've got a nice piece of french from DON CANTWELL that has been seasoning here in the shop for about six years, so I think I have it pretty well covered.

I changed my mind and was going for a .225 WINCHESTER chambering. I know it surprise Rodney when he asked me about the chambering as everybody who knows me, knows I'm a .375 H&H nut. I'm sure he just knew I would go for the .375 flanged as you have done.

I have more than a few .375's. I wanted something for Caribou and thought the .225 WINCHESTER would be great. I then thought, what the heck those caribou don't care what they get shot with. I ask Rodney what he like the best in the old chamberings and that's when it changed to the .40-70SS.

I hope your build goes well, and sure look forward to seeing your finished rifle pictures.

I have an original 1897, in .256.....a fine old round with wonderful sectional density. For a pic of my gun look at MR.Winfers book, it looks good on the cover, and even better in person. You just can't beat a British falling block stalking rifle.....

AMEN Sir, AMEN! If you need to break it in on caribou, just pack it up and bring it with you this fall. There is a spot for you in the boat.

I wonder if Lowell's gun uses 25-20 Winchester or 25-20 Single Shot? They are not the same.
