30 K is way, way more than I payed. I payed just a small fraction of that for my stag and a fallow. You usually do have to pay if you want to get to the good stuff. One way or another. I like to put in as much time before the hunt as I can. It payed of in spades with my NZ trip. Lots of reasearch and ended up with a great deal and a wonderful guide. Heres a couple of pics, please forgive the bolt gun...I couldnt get close enough with the Holland falling block. The Stag was taken at 250 yards and the fallow at 180. I just cant swing that with open sights. I was able to get well within range of smaller animals, but the nice trophies required me to use a scope. I did build the mauser. Its not much of a Chamoi, but I got him on public land with no guide, sorta made me proud even if he is a wee little bugger.
