A lot of that can be mitigated in how it is worked. Not everyone has the options available to them that I do, I understand that. In my shop I remove the bulk of it with my CNC mill, set on slow speeds and moderate feed rate. The stuff stinks no matter what but much less so if you keep the temp down. I rarely use Ebony any more, once in a while for fore end tips. It is much softer and easier to inlet than horn.
