The last two stock extensions I had done by David Trevallion. Of the available options, he talked me into Ebony. I couldn't be more pleased with the results. One was a Scottish side-by-side and the other a British over and under. Likelihood of chipping, balance, and weight are probably the major concerns from a functional standpoint. The risk of chipping on the toe can be mitigated with a progressive and wide radius in ebony, I was told. A "hollowectomy" kept both guns the same weight following the addition. The balance point actually moved about a quarter inch Forward which is what I was looking for. So far no problems and a beautiful mount.
