Was called by the Sheriff to look at a Fox they confiscated. He knows I like old doubles. They had a HE Superfox that some A,,hole has cut down to 13 inches. They also cut off the stock that looked to be very pretty wood. So it is too short to be legal. That is why they took it from a wanabe gangbanger. It doesn't show up as stolen. There is a special place in hell for someone who would butcher a Bert Becker bored Fox. I think I am in some kind of shock.

I dont know how such things go, but is it able to be turned loose? Even just as an action? That alone is worth getting a hold of and saving.

Is there any chance the action can be purchased?

Looks like it is evidence. Was used in an aggravated assault. I will keep an eye on the action and see if it can be separated from the illegal barrels.

About 8 or 9 years ago, I bought an action and complete forearm from a small frame 16 gauge G grade Lefever that had been confiscated by a local police department. The barrels had been sawed off to about 10" and the butt stock was cut off at the pistol grip. The police department had sold the legal parts to a local gunsmith from whom I then purchased them. He told me they would not sell him the cut off barrels. But some police departments will sell legal guns or gun parts after they no longer have any use as evidence. I called the police chief and asked him if he would consider selling me enough of the breech end of the barrels to use as a basis for sleeving. He told me they had already been scrapped. I am still looking for a set of 16 gauge barrels, but no luck yet. Even 20 gauge barrels would likely work because of those I have measured, the difference in firing pin spacing is only .004"- 005" c.t.c.

A long time back when California was much looser I had a BHE Parker that had met the same fate, it was a rose and scroll engraved gun with no saftey. The barrels were cut at the end of the forend, I had John Foster block the barrels and make a new rib, it was less expensive then (under 400.00) found out later that the original barrels were 34".

Maybe they'll allow the evil bbl's to go with the frame if they first pound them flat from starting just ahead of the flats all the way to the cut muzzle and then prove their strength by bending them into a pretzel shape.
If they're happy, you can still use the back section for a monobloc and maybe have the forend lug too.
The world will once again be safe and perhaps a Becker will re-emerge.

That is a shame.

Do you know for sure it is a Becker gun? Not all HE's barrels were crafted by him.

Call Jason Barden of Pumpkin Mountain gunsmith's in upstate New York. He has all the "new" old stock, in the white original Fox parts.

Last time I talked to him he had a set of HE barrels in the white and also dozens of original semi inletted stock blanks. A good wood guy could join a new stock to the old one at a reasonable price without all the expense of all the inletting.

I bought a 16 gauge barrel as well as all the forend iron to make a custom two barrel set from Jason. He is a super nice guy.
