Mark,
I'm working on this for myself. Damascus barrels and ejectors. It is getting the full treatment. Almost done with the metal. Hope to be shooting it by the fall of '17.

left to right, Crosby, Nikki, Myself and Maggie in about 1999. How many of you can say you have seen a malamute flush and retrieve a wild rooster?

First trip to the Rez. We had no idea how much time we would come spend there and the special friendships and memories that would be to come. Left to right, My dear departed friend and guide Dwayne Ryan, Maggie, Mike (guides helper) and my dad enjoying a beautiful South Dakota sunset.

Steve, Were I around, I'd be there. Unfortunately, I'm not going to make it. I'll be in Sidney until I figure out my next step.

Chuck,
you might be correct on that. My best guess dates it around 2005 or so. Briar is still looking pretty young and no grey in the scruff on my face......I hear you guys have good grass this spring. Looking to be great year if it continues.

Everything looks grand for a GOOD season this year. The only negative might be an early wheat harvest, but as of now looks good. Mild winter, good carryover, ideal spring moisture...I will also have a new Pup, Flash's daughter born last week..

Seeing lots of birds in the Nebraska panhandle as well. Good moisture. Now if it continues and the hail stays away . . .

Back in February Buzz had me out to his birdlease, east of Lubbock, for a hunt.

Buzz has a fine pack of dogs, all but one are English Pointers.

Jill on point, Buzz going in to flush:

The flush (note the bobwhite above the dog):

Jill on point again, Buzz going in for the flush:

And again:

We hunted early morning to mid afternoon the first day. We moved twenty-two coveys. Buzz has some very nice dogs but Jill and Doc were outstanding. They are the ideal West Texas bird dogs - big-running heat-tolerant bird-finding point-holding machines. Hunted early morning till Noon on the second day - seventeen coveys.

Buzz shot a very nice Joseph Lang sidelock, sixteen bore. And he was deadly with it. He was shooting RSTs with an ounce of #7s. I carried a little AH Fox XE 20ga and RSTs with 7/8oz of #8s. We had a dog-bowl full of empties:

The high was in the seventies both days. Saturday we moved twenty-two coveys, quitting at mid-afternoon. Sunday we hunted till Noon and moved seventeen coveys.

Buzz is good company. And he can walk for sure.

Jill and Doc can come live in my kennel anytime.

I am glad to be here.
