...Americans would be paying a lot of attention to what goes on in Ottawa; irresponsible not to. King, don't be so hard on your own Country: Trudeau's election was more foolish than irresponsible. I think y'all just got caught up in the JFK/Camelot hysteria and forgot yourselves. And The Donald hasn't elbowed any women Not all of us got caught up. But it was/is foolish and we will pay the price. BTW, Elbowgate as the media are calling it up here, is a combination of the impetuous actions of a entitled brat being responded to by a bunch of phonies whose diving would do World Cup soccer proud. And King, we now know that the native Trudeau punched out in the ring was debilitated by substance abuse. You should probably stop holding that one up as an example of Trudeau's manliness. In today's parlance, aren't we suppose to think of poor Brasseau as being ill, suffering a terrible affliction of addiction? On top of the fact he is native and he has the whole residential school/reservation horror to deal with. Is this really the guy you want to crow about Trudeau beating up? Not that any of you particularly care who our Prime Minister is, nor should you, but if you want a measure of the man, go watch the movie Zoolander. Pretty face and hair. Not much upstairs. Controlled by others. That's our Derek Zoolander.....I mean Justin Trudeau. The real power in our country is a man named Gerald Butts and when his track record is examined, I fear for our country. Economic ruin as a result of the pursuit of a socialist, carbon free future. That's what we have to look forward to.

Wasn't aware of the senator's drug abuse but you'd have to admit Trudeau looked like a wet piece of Kleenex beside him. Don't want to crow about his athletic prowess at all but I was envious watching him do one-arm pushups at the Invictus competitions with Prince Harry.

Trump might not be as strong for the Second Amendment as we had hoped. We know Hillary isn't.
Trump might nominate one of the conservative judges on his non-binding list of SCOTUS prospects. We know Hillary won't.
Trump might support governmental and institutional race based discrimination (diversity). We know Hillary will.
Trump might keep Obama's order that public schools must let transgender people pee in the restroom of their choice. We know Hillary will.
Trump might not enact tariffs or set import quotas on China. We know Hillary won't.
Trump might give "Black Lives Matter" publicity and support. We know Hillary will.
Trump's justice department might go about the nation investigating the police departments of near bankrupt cities and then extorting them into "consent decrees" and so take over those police departments. We know Hillary's will.
Really simple:
Trump
Clinton
Pick one.
I am glad to be here.

Let's see. Trump makes his campaign one of appealing to voters who like thin-skinned, outrageous buffoons -- or maybe don't recognize buffoonery when it spatters in their faces.
But somehow seeing and not liking his buffoonery is a problem of wearing "media shaped blinders".
Ok then. No, but both parties ignoring the concerns of millions of voters for the last 30 years has to have some impact at some point. It's fascinating to me that in this cycle, the last three candidates standing are two complete outsiders that have nothing to do with politics as usual and one, the candidate of the establishment, who was considered to have a lock on the Presidency a short time ago and now is in free fall. You may stay home Jay but millions and millions of people who have been staying home are coming out to vote in the primaries and will come out to vote in November. That says something important is happening. And as one of the two men tapping into that, it's hard for me to see Trump as a buffoon. He may say some buffoonish things, but he's not a buffoon. So, for me, it comes down to this (although I can't vote so it's theoretical). I vote. I exercise my democratic right to be involved in the process. In each and every election. And in this coming election in the US, there will be a choice to make. Between Hillary and Trump. Between the status quo and the potential for meaningful change. Between the same old same old and the change Obama was selling in 2008, albeit with no real inclination or ability to effect change. I would be getting out of my chair, into my car, down to the polling station and happily casting my vote for Donald Trump. And proud to do so. You, of course, are free to do as you see fit.

So you were okay with Trudeau politicizing what should obviously be a non partisan event, the Invictus Games?? I was aghast at his behavior, not proud or admiring. Not aware of the senator's drug abuse and problems with alcohol that's been all over the news? King, these are admissions from you that should disqualify you from commenting on these subjects! I try not to give opinions on the latest in quantum physics. Because I am uninformed on that subject. BTW, King, have you had Spring yet or has yours been as cool as ours?

When a president goes through the White House doors And does what he/she said he'd/she'd do We'll all be drinking that free bubble up And eating that rainbow stew. Merle Haggard

Early on I predicted that Trump was there only to rev up the conservative Republican base, and that Jeb was the only candidate who had a chance to best Hillary. I thought Trump would fall away when he'd served his purpose and we'd have another Clinton vs. Bush election. Dead wrong! Surprised no one has reminded me of that.
The Donald is scary, but it may be that a populist anti-establishment candidate is what our disgusted voters want this time. He may just beat Hillary. I will most certainly vote for him...Geo

Ok then. Back a few pages ago, you mentioned, "Neither Trump nor Clinton give a damn about speaking truth, and neither cares a whit about gun rights". Since, it's been personal attacks against Trump, with an occasional passing reference to policy. No one could possibly get a hundred percent support, but it seems obvious that a candidate needs to appeal to feelings. It doesn't seem worth our while to discuss the pros and cons of Clinton's policy and track record, just feelings. I appreciate that you found that tweet link about the justice. What's missing is the fact that the person is on the 'list', and may become an appointee. Do you feel the Texas justice could be a good fit on the highest court? Does vetting for hill mean that her appointees will have her agenda without fail? Apparently you felt better about McCain and Romney. Did they inspire you to get out and vote? How did their nominees or any other policies work out?

Desperate cold although lots of sun. Grape buds barely softening; they're out three- to five leaves in Ohio.
Since when does one have to be informed to have opinions? Politicizing supposedly non-partisan events is what politicians do. It's all stagecraft.
The National Post yesterday speculated maybe staged; didn't mention diving.
What puzzles me is young and old going nuts over old socialist senator in a country that ranks socialists worse than atheists!
What's your opinion on that?
