I'm looking at a saucer & sohn 16 ga. double, grade 2 (I'm told). Two crowns (one larger), two circles with "16"s inside, "crown S"," Crown W", two "16/1"'s, a faint smokeless proof (I think), "W", "Nicht fur kugel", ser # 61xxx.
Anyone have a date in mind? Thanks for any help. broockies

You can interpolate. It wears both the quality & shooting performance crowns. Cheers, Raimey rse

Thanks, Raimey. 1897?? That's a surprise. Can you identify the Crown/S Crown/U & Crown/W and the little figure with large boots and a club(?) ? Also, is this a Prussian gun? I see no "prussian" in evidence. These marks are under the receiver. Under the Bbls : Crown/S, eagle, 61xxx, 207M, Nicht für kugel, papp.16, V, and 65.4,75S.P.28,5BL, W All greek to me. Gun has side plates and fully engraved by Ad. Loesche.
Appreciate any further info Raimey, or anyone knowledgeable. Thanks! Bo (Broockies)

Just from your numbers, 4,75S.P. 28,5BL that would be 4 3/4 of powder S.P.( Schultze Powder ) & 28 1/2 grammes of lead.
Papp 16-65, 4 3/4 S.P., 28 1/2 Bl.
