dollar: apparently, manteen passed the nics background test criteria, which does not include suspicion of intent to do mass murder...

the practice of government denying a citizen his rights, based upon suspicion of evil intent is a slippery slope...

a certain number of deaths and injuries by firearms is the price we americans pay for our freedom to keep and bear arms; just as we pay a price in automobile related deaths and injuries for the freedom of the road...states require a license to drive a motor vehicle. perhaps the same criteria should apply to firearms use?

in any event, the federal based background check system appears to a dismal failure and should be abandoned?...gun control is best conducted at the state level and is in fact specifically forbidden to the federal government by the second amendment.
