This thread was posted by mistake by myself in DIY Gunsmithing. Apologies, In the current edition of The Field magazine well respected Gunmaker Jason Abbot highlights the fact that a recent large clayshooting competition although won with a O/U , SxS including hammer guns came second and third, indeed they filled many of the top ten places.Given the fact that with a double trigger SxS we have instant choice between selecting the appropriate choke for any given shot, could I ask the question, are we missing a trick by adoring the O/U ??????

In a large competition of fine shooters couldn't the results depend on how they were feeling that day? I like barrel alignments equally but seem to shoot better on game with o/u. I think it's easier to "get on to" the o/u than the double.
Having said that, how I'm feeling about a particular gun on a particular day---a little nostalgic for American classic, overseas fine gun or ducks on the plate---is the determinant of choice. And the notion guns are to be used.

I would think at the highest level, if skill and commitment are there, then there would be a fairly narrow range of equipment to match. When it comes to adoration, then I'd think anything goes.

The best in the world, most of whom can shoot whatever they want, shoot what is most likely to help them win. This experiment didn't last very long Saeed Al Maktoum at the 2010 ISSF Int. Skeet World Cup Check out the many ISSF youtubes and look for a SxS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8paeU9K6dEor FITASC youtubes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHng4kutp3Q I don't care, will never be best, shoot what I enjoy shooting, and enjoy the remarks from other shooters

A towel-head terrorist without an AK-47- he can only kill two innocent Christians -aka- Infidels with that goofy shotgun before he has to open the breech and wait for the ejectors to work, before he can reload. Strange world, indeed, Drewbie, strange indeed.

I own only SxS's - I never adored a O/U. Your eyes are horizontal, why not the barrels?

I like side by side the most, but if someone dumped a Boss and co o/u in my gunsafe, i would not be too upset.
