I just picked up a Jose Cruz Mugica SxS and am hoping to find out more about the maker as well as the quality, value or comments on my particular gun. Thanks in advance, Patrick.

A few comments on it: 27 1/2" barrels, 2 3/4" chambers, choked light mod and a tight full, 14 1/4" LOP, tight on face, side clips, cocking indicators, arcaded fence, greener cross bolt.

Mujica is not one I am familiar with. Plenty of Spanish gun experts here though. Someone will expound I am sure.

The example you picture seems nice but not the highest quality the Spaniards are capable of. Sounds like a useful mid grade sidelock to me. I think its a nice gun...Geo

Well, I paid the equivalent of $US 440 ($C 570) so I think I will do okay if I decide to move it along. grin

from the pictures that Crossbolt looks square to me. If so I do not believe it is properly called a "Greener". Greener stated emphatically that a cross bolt should be round, not square, probably because that was the way he made his.

I have the exact same gun paid 250nz for her the stock wasnt as tidy as yours and i have refinished her definely not spainish best but good shooter i use mine when im in the rough stuff ie want to use a side by side but dont want to risk using a safe queen ,there are a few of these in new zealand and you see the MUGICA boxlocks all the time they were popular in the 60s and 70s and most of them are still working fine even though they were used as duck guns and not looked after very well i know of one thats never been cleaned looks horrible but still goes bang every time ,have fun

If i was ment to shoot under&overs my eyes would be vertical
