Folks here are right on top of the one.

Juan Cruz Mugica, makers mark AB, frequently found with makers initials JCM in an oval. Makers crest on top of barrels. Proof year code G1, for 1961. Looks to me to be a model 427; middle of the road on price point. This gun has a Scott cross bolt, side clips and a reinforced frame. It has seen 55 years of use; treat it well and it will likely give another 55 years of service.

Outstanding gun.

Well, I paid the equivalent of $US 440 ($C 570) so I think I will do okay if I decide to move it along. grin

Great price paid on yet another outstanding but obscure Spanish maker building beautiful guns.

How may more are out there?

I'd note that the gun, although 2 3/4", carries the standard CIP (European) proof of 850 bars. That means a service pressure about 800 psi below our American (SAAMI) standard service pressure. If it were mine, I'd go easy on heavy shot charges and high velocity. If you reload, you can work up some pretty low pressure loads at moderate velocity that will work very well on birds as large as pheasants. I have one using Unique, pushing 1 1/8 oz shot in the mid-1100 fps range at not much over 7,000 psi. Throws great patterns, and I seldom use anything heavier for ringnecks.

Many, many. Here is one I've been watching:

http://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-fo...un_id=100685478

Trust Eibarres was a retailer (similar to Orvis) and sold guns made by a number of different makers under the Trust Eibarres label. There is no way to know who made that specific gun without seeing the barrel flats or water table. That said, I've seen Trust Eibarres guns with the maker marks of CK (Lucio Loyola) and PA (Pedro Arrizabalaga). The PA gun had the top end deep relief game seen engraving pattern that was use only on top dollar guns. Here are a couple of examples of that pattern:

Photos don't really show the elegance of that pattern. The gun has to be held in hand to truly appreciate the pattern.

Thanks for the information, advice & education (I now know what a Scott's cross bolt is) and I do plan do have the chokes opened up and use it for upland.

Kyrie, do you have any information you can share that leads you to believe it is a Model 427? (I did see a 1955 Mugica catalog listed on Ebay that references a model 427) Also, what identifies it as having a reinforced frame?
