As least two people posting here have illustrated they can't grasp that, or the temperature correlation that goes with it.

If your barrels are too hot to touch, oils or, the old standby of vaseline, are soon going to be running out of where you put them. In the case of a hinge pin, there is a nice, absorbant, sponge located close at hand, to soak up that oil for you.

It is called the front end wood.

Temperature stable synthetics are a blessing.
