Louis Pigny was the culprit.

I'd hold w/ SJB being a Lige mechanic & would be S.J. Bernard and the tubes were sourced from Lige otherwise there would be the medallion w/ LB, LP, etc. Anyone thing it dates to pre-1842? Where does "A DAMAS" lead us?

Thought about Alphonse Bernard but probably not.

Some historical documents suggest pattern welded barrels were referred to as Canons a Ruban or Canons Tordu. The Damas or Damask label came about the 1830s

I'd hazard a guess 1830 - 1842 but the more I stare @ the info, them more I'm inclined to believe it was one of the Brothers LePage who was trying to scratch a living as an arqubusier, advertising vaguely on his wares in an effort to abstractly promote his wares as possibly being that of the main LePage, Arquebusier Jean Andr Prosper Henri Le Page? So I highly suspect Lige sourcing.

Location where Farv LePage hung out his shingle. Fella on the right might be Dr. Hause?

Mr. Hallquist kindly forward some images of a Lepage of Lige pinfire example:

Fabrique Lepage Frres Lige Maison Paris 12 Rue d'Enghien(Something)

'LEPAGE Frres (Henri & Perrin). Arquebusiers-fabricants Lige (Belgique) entre 1823 et 1860. Furent ensuite

So the above example would be 1856 or later.....

Very similar example above?

G. Schneider patent Nr. 2263 of 1867.
