Yes, I've had it apart. My first post on this forum was looking for advice on how to get the hammer on left side to rebound into the safety notch. We got that figured out.

I've also made a top snap spring and a bolt for the forend latch.

O.K. I'll post this one because it is my latest acquisition:



A Frederick Gates of Derby (local Gunmaker to where I live) made circa 1863 on the George Henry Daws patent action of 1862 and one of the first successful centrefire guns. Included in the photo is an original Daws cartridge case. Gates left to go to California in 1876. Any Gates guns I have seen have always been of top quality although they are hard to find. An early centrefire breech loader. Black powder proof but in good condition. Shot it at clays the other week. Lagopus.....
