What do you think of this description? This is from a fairly high grade seller
L.C. Smith Specialty 12 Gauge Side-by-Side
Barrels
Barrel Length: 30" Chokes: F/F .035/.031 Bores: mirrors Bore Diameter: .728/.725 Wall Thickness: .019/.022 % Blue: 93% factory Chambers: 2 3/4" Ribs: tight Sights: single I left out the guns description. Looking at the barrel part is what really got my attention.
In an email to seller he stated he had measured many L.C. Smiths and other guns with .019 factory wall thickness. I have measured many, not nearly as many as him but I have never measured one with walls that thin. Gun has a straight stock, nice sharp engraving, but no other options for $5,750.00 Caveat emptor

David, I recently had a run-in with that "dealer" over another Smith he has listed, and was thoroughly scolded by him because I corrected him on the production date. My effort was simply to advise him that the date he stated was incorrect, and he proceeded to tell me that I didn't know anything about Smiths compared to him (he later corrected the date on the listing). If he would devote more time in researching his listings and less time burying errors in flowery prose he might have more buyers!

Wonder if your "know-it-all" dealer is related to the azzholer I recently contacted on GI- regarding a nice later production Parker VH 16 gauge- the ad stated "refinished by Larry Del Grego-unfired since"-- so in my query, I asked him if he had the documents and receipts from DelGrego in Ilion. He replied like this: "No, but an older gentleman that knows a lot about Parkers told me that it looked like Del Grego's workmanship"> Sorry, dude, but that is false advertising in my book. I won't name this schmuck, because I am sure that any serious Parkeristo would demand the same verification. Caveat Emperor!!

No ejectors or HOT at that price. Who is the dealer, if you'd care to divulge that info. I have two guesses- (1) Bill Hadfield (2) Steve Barnett.
I got into a Donneybrook with another dealer a few years ago, who had a 1911 12 gauge Pigeon Grade for sale- Ejectors, straight hand grip and HOT-- he described it as being 100% original as to 1911- but the splinter forearm did NOT have the banjo shaped metal escutcheon, instead it had the post 1931 rectangular escutcheon shaped, just as on my 1932 12 gauge Eagle Grade Smith-
he told me I was "Full of Shit and didn't know anything about L.C. Smiths at all- so, I don't bother with his BS ads and flawed descriptions anymore..
