I served on the BOD of National Capital Skeet and Trap in Maryland, the home of the longest continuously run NSSA skeet shoot. We had to downsize the shoot, but had to continue to run it in order to keep our date, which was in effect at least since the end of WW2. We could have discontinued the shoot, but some other club would have jumped on our date. Linda and I also served on the NSCA scheduling committee for another club we were active in. It was the same thing there. We had to attend every scheduling meeting and continue using our dates in order to keep our dates. With NSSA and NSCA, you are bound by the rules of your state organization, no gentleman's agreement on scheduling. In the side by side world, there are no scheduling rules, only gentlemanly behavior. In this case, it looks like Mike Koneski is the gentleman and Gary Lacey is the bully. Mike and Gary are both friends of mine, but Gary's behavior requires some explanation. No one can expect to hold on to a date if they don't use it. Bill Murphy

apology accepted. I realize I have 'caught a packet" vis a vis a reply on the thread I started about a Ithaca NID field grade 20- as to chamber length for an early (1927) vintage NID-- and somehow, my fault I should guess, it morphed into clean kills. I am a frugal SOB- so I don't expend a second shell to finish off a crow or a barn pigeon- but I have emptied a Model 12 of its 3 shell capacity several times to finish off a crippled from first shot Canada goose, or Tom Turkey--
I make the distinction that crows and pigeons are NOT game birds, whereas geese, ducks, pheasants and turkeys are. I hunt by myself now-a-days (at age 75, most of my former hunting pals are gone) so you'll have to take my word for this- but if I loose a duck on the river that my Lab Khartoum cannot find, I could that into the days bag limit- 4 mallards per day, only 2 of which can be hens- here in MI-- and act accordingly. We owe God a death, by Troth- as the Bard of Avon once penned, and we owe the game we hunt a clean, quick and non-suffering demise.
As far as Vick, Tyson and the others mentioned- I have NO respect for a person (note- I did NOt say Man) like: Tyson, who beats up on women, or Vick: who profits from torturing dogs, regardless of their breeding and intended function in our lives--
"The field is the touchstone of the man"..

+1 for Dr. Bob and eightbore, why the Vintagers tried to force this issue is beyond me. Why not join Mike's shoot plenty of room or do a different weekend, I really don't understand why they are trying to divide the community of SxS shooters and vendors...!

Paul, you're reading that crap? The mentally ill should be left to stew in their own juices.

I was at the 14 and 15 vintage shoots in NY and was incrasingly disappointed. The question of the day is if Geo. Hopkins knew about the scheduled Rocky Pa double gun shoot and the big collector org signups there ,before hee agreed todo this one ?

I'm sure George was told that the Rock Mountain shoot was a non-event. If that is what he was told, it is not true.
