Based on the pins and bolts on the sidelocks is this a bar action or a back action?

It has been sometime since I have looked inside on mine, but I seem to recall it being a back action. The thing I remember distinctly about it is the sear. The sear is a vertical bar pivoted close to it's middle. The sear catch is located on it's upper end & engages the hammer on it's outer periphery as far as possible from the axle. The lower end is pushed Forward by the trigger for release rather than up as on most sears. I believe this design would be quite resistant to a "Jar Off".

The 190M is associated with the tubeset & is an Sauer inhouse number or an assembly number. Lindner also had a similar number but it did not end w/ a letter.

Even though the subject example is also devoid of the Large & Small Crowns along with Nicht Für Kugel & load data, here is the Large & Small Crown thread:

Very nice gun. I'd shoot RST's in that without hesitation.

Gary,
Sorry to come in late after your request. The others have already given you good info. How did you get the idea that it is a ca 1934 gun? It is much earlier than that. If it had been a 1934 gun the month and year of proof would have been shown. The 12 in a circle indicates it was chambered for the "standard" length shells. This was 2 1/2-2 9/16" for 16 ga. and we often see this attributed to 12 ga.; but I believe the "standard" chamber for 12 ga. was actually 2 5/8", as Raimey mentioned. I see no indication that it has other than the "standard" chamber now. There is a lot of disagreement concerning the use of 2 3/4" shells, you have to make your own decision on that.

Thank you all for your input....I have learned more about German shotguns(my favorites)once again from the astute and knowledgeable gentlemen on this forum. Since the gun does not have the nitro proof marks and only black powder proofs, It is not worth to me the $1800 the dealer and I agreed on. The seller inherited a vast collection of guns and was under the impression it was a 1930's boxlock gun and I knew it was an earlier sidelock gun. I had to get it in hand to know exactly what it was, and we agreed on a 3 day inspection. It's going back. If anyone is interested in it, PM me....I will give you the seller's name and phone number. He knows now what this gun is. I don't know where it has been for the last 118 years, but it is in marvelous condition and weighs 6 1/2 lb with 30" barrels.
