I've heard enough stories EXACTLY like this one over the years that I consider myself cured of any desire to bid on a double gun that is listed at an auction house.
I have had three very good experiences on gunbroker, but, none of the guns I bid on were over $400.

Buying over the Internet is a very risky way to buy guns with little recourse. I've been screwed twice on gunbroker and they were no help at all. I did get relief but it was by the Postal inspector mostly. I paid using a usps money order. When the problem occurred they did the leg work. Also BATF helped. By he end I got my money returned and one dealer lost his FFL. Crooks should not have them anyways.

I always use USPS money orders for a transaction involving guns, on both ends. The Postal Police are a Godsend.
Enough said.

It can be tricky buying at Holt's but I have done very over the years. I can not say I never bought a lemon...I did, or maybe even a couple of them, but I have had many more great deals than bad ones. Getting a condition report is a huge help.
