I fully expect Donald Trump to rescind ridiculous and needless directives like this just as quickly as he eliminates Obama's illegal "Executive Orders". It would probably be best to just sit tight until the elections are over with.

Of course, this topic and the writing of the guidelines can be debated and interpreted until the end of time, however...

The ITAR guidelines cover Domestic gunsmithing activities related to Firearms deemed to be "Significant Military Equipment".

Of course, the definition of "Significant Military Equipment" is not really spelled all that clear, but that does not sound like any firearm for personal use by civilians.

This sounds very similar to the tizzy that was put up over the definition of "Engaged in business" and needing an FFL or not. All these people reading it as if they needed an FFL to be able to buy or sell anything for their personal collections. Not the case.

careful dudley, you are in danger of being labeled an "anti gun jerk" here, by simply advocatng reason and common sense...

keep it up and you will graduated to the "anti gun troll" level, which is a label reserved for only a select few here...

which is only one step below the unique and highly coveted "torch" status...

keep it simple and keep it safe...

That's the way I read it, too. Domestic gunsmithing doesn't apply if you're not manufacturing for the defense industry in international trade.

Vague language in law can and will be used to excessively penalize gun owning citizens when the government in power feels like it.

If asked, I can provide chapter and verse of how "common sense" gun regs written with vague language have been used by over zealous prosecutors and governments against reasonable citizens.

Dudley, King and Ed are wrong.

Where's the "vague" part, James? It says specifically defense manufacturing. It labours to make the point.

It's not a matter of "Misunderstanding" so much as it is a matter of "Abusing".
There is virtual;ly "Nothing" to misunderstand about "The Right of the People to Keep & Bear Arms ""SHALL NOT"" be Infringed" now is there, but look at how many that is being abused.
And yes there is "Extreme Doubt" about what will happen in November.
