Greg, since most of the work is done by the forend on the older guns I own, the L.C. Smiths that have ejectors I take the metal from the wood and look mainly at the coil springs. If everything looks fine maybe a drop or two of Kroil oil (Kano Oil) or a light spray of Rem oil, before putting it back on the wood. On ejector and non-ejector I will still take out the screw that holds them in place on the barrels and clean the hole out with a que tip and clean the rod(s) up with oil and put back together again.
