They first appeared circa 1940 and damn few until we got occupied with WW-II. Houchins didn't even list them in his book.

295 produced. .410 production in all Fulton variations are listed in Dr Jim's book.

I just got mine back from a friend who is getting started in "Smith-ery". He appreciates sidelocks, has two Lang British doubles, but now wants a graded Smith 20 with ejectors for preserve bird hunting. Down the slippery slope of "Smith-craft" I suppose, can think of other things far lesser as usable investments than fine double guns-with the caveat that you must first purchase them on the low ebb of the market flow.
