For that kind of money one might as well get the real deal, a M71 .348 Win.
Provided one has plenty of brass and appropriate bullets the only M71 I would take is .50 conversion that some Alaska "Sourdough" used to do many years ago. The M71 is basically nicely finished crowbar. If one wants lever action .358 Win the best option is the modern BLR.
You're on your own with that opinion. My three BLR's (one a .358) never impressed me much. The clips are junk, but if Jap levers are your thing have at it. Mine all slunk away.
Japanese levers are not really my thing, but they made real nice lever-actioned .22s for Browning and repros of Winchesters 1895 and 71s. I tell you what I would really like is a nice USRAC 1894 XTR in .356 Winchester. Dang it, I never seem to find one locally.
