Once on their system, and a second using HTML code (remember when we had to do that here??) There are three very good pictures of the stock modifications.

41 pics. No left side of gunstock. Hmmm To be sure that no one comes to the same conclusion as you, I have also included the pics of the left side to the GB picture uploads. FWIW - Take a look at my join date on this site. What are the chances I would come here, post about the stock, say I was going to list it on Gunbroker and then attempt to hide this 'flaw'??? This is another example of how GB had screwed up (IMO) their system. The pictures used to be below the text written by the seller. I now get an amazing number of questions about details clearly explained in my listings. People look at the pics and don't read the listing.

The next trapshooter/owner of that gun may just love the present alterations. Daryl, Missed this until now. Made me laugh. I began my shotgun collecting when I took up trapshooting for a couple of years. Jeezuz, you should have seen the ugly alterations I did to the 870 I shot......

Exactly Ted. Acraglas mixed with walnut sawdust becomes very dark in color, and would stick out just as badly as the present "modification". Might as well use Bondo and paint.
It would be interesting to see what someone who is skilled in doing butt transplants could do with this gun. About 95% of the joint could be concealed within the checkering pattern. Dr. Wonko had already suggested I send it to Dennis. His follow up was after I said I would not be doing so. If fair to his follow on comment, he is right. Filling the void with anything from Bondo to Acraglas would not hurt the value. It is what it is. The stock 'transplant' would probably be the 'best' solution. And it would cost more than the shotgun is worth. I considered all of this before deciding to sell it 'As Is'.

I just can't see what would be improved by filling up the hole with epoxy and wood dust, even if it is cheap.

Then cover it with a piece of leather or similar.
It can't be made 'right'.

No, it can be made right. It just isn't in the scope of the guns current owner. You were very honest about that.
The final analysis may be the best place for it is in the hands of a lefty shooter. But, he will still get a few bucks off for the hole on the other side of the gun.
It is that ugly, as is.

Ted It is with the scope of my skills. I had even picked out the piece of wood to use to fill the void. Calculated what I would charge to make the repair for a customer and compared it to sales prices on similar Ithaca SBT's and decided to sell it as is. It is also quite shootable as is for a righty. The guy who did this must have had a strange stance. My cheek and chin land well ahead of the hollowed out spot.
