Exactly Ted. Acraglas mixed with walnut sawdust becomes very dark in color, and would stick out just as badly as the present "modification". Might as well use Bondo and paint.
It would be interesting to see what someone who is skilled in doing butt transplants could do with this gun. About 95% of the joint could be concealed within the checkering pattern.

His follow up was after I said I would not be doing so.
If fair to his follow on comment, he is right. Filling the void with anything from Bondo to Acraglas would not hurt the value. It is what it is.
The stock 'transplant' would probably be the 'best' solution. And it would cost more than the shotgun is worth.
I considered all of this before deciding to sell it 'As Is'.
