I've acquired an appreciation of the 'Fla-Thoonk' sound and tactile feedback of the long recoil system.

Admittedly, I initially thought the things were simply outmoded and over complex.

It's an often misunderstood gun.

Just the fact that it dates from 1900 and for a very long time was the only automatic shotgun that sold in numbers makes it worth a second look just to admire the design and manufacturing.

The 'humpback' misnomer is a little annoying to A5 admirers. There's no hump. There is a square profile for sure, that's so the bolt has someplace to go. 'Squareback' I'll buy.... but 'humpback'? That's just silly.

And, you don't see that part of the gun when shooting it anyway. At least you shouldn't. Combined with the semi-pistol grip stock, the guns handle very well. The triggers are generally better than most stock automatics too.
