Not comfortable with throwing a fishing line over a wire, I decided to take another approach for my dove honey hole: 16' pt 2x4 hinged on a pt 2x4 two ft. in concrete, with angle iron brace locked in place with a 5/16 galvanized carriage bolts and wingnuts for fast assembly and takedown. Drove a T post in about 2/3 toward the top and wired it in place so that it is out of the wind when not in use, dove removed, but still off the ground so critters don't trample it.
