Some of you may know Bob Hynden (handle Birdhunter56) from Iowa. He has been a member of this forum since 2005 and was into building double rifles on shotgun actions. He was very active on the Nitro Express forum. This morning I received an email from his wife Marie via his account letting his contacts know that he passed yesterday unexpectedly from a heart attack or stroke on his way back from a successful day hunting.

Bob had done some work for me and I had done some work for him as well. I never met him in person, buy through our business and communication with each other, I was fortunate to consider him a friend.

Wow, I hadn't been on Nitro Express for a good number of years but decided to log in yesterday. Looking at a few old posts of mine and some messages they generated. All were from Bob. A very helpful guy.

Very sorry to hear of his passing.

I also received the email yesterday evening. Bob Hynden, aka "Birdhunter56", has made many contributions on this forum over the years.

Dear Friends, Family and "Gun Buddies" of Bob Hynden,

It brings me great sadness, distraught and heavy heart, to let you know
that this afternoon my dear husband passed away.

He went deer hunting this afternoon around 2:30pm on our little acreage
got a nice fat doe and on his way home he either suffered a massive heart attack
or a massive stroke while driving home. The local EMS were on the scene and
tried to revive him without any luck. He did not suffer. Luckily no one else was injured.

He loved the outdoors and he passed doing what he loved.
He was a great man, very artistic with his builds and he enjoyed the company of
many of our friends.
This year was the first year he got to take his grandsons hunting and he enjoyed
every minute of it.

He will be dearly missed by many.

For those of you that are local, memorial announcements will be posted in a few days.
Bob did not want a funeral, he will be cremated.
I will have a memorial in a few days and probably one later this year when the weather
is better.

Marie Hynden

RIP Bob

RIP. Glad he got to do what he wanted up until the very end. He just left too soon. Prayers to his family. Jon

Grateful he got out easy; so many don't. Still too young, a lot of living left in him. Condolences to Marie and family.

My condolences to Mr. Hyndon's wife and family. I'm glad his grandsons got the opportunity to hunt with him for at least one season.

I have been looking for a Simpson donor shotgun with the intention of having Mr. Hyndon build a .45-70 or .450 BPE double rifle on it after I saw the custom Simpson .405 WCF Double built by him and stocked by Brian Dudley. It was a very nice gun with excellent workmanship all around. He was obviously a talented gunsmith.
